A hundred million mistakes: Microsoft's Bing search engine - Good Experience

Microsoft's strategy, to win market share from Google, is not to compete on user experience. No. Microsoft's strategy is to advertise the heck out of the thing and hope people flock to the site.

Version control done wrong:

Version was code written onto a CD-R

Control was a person who got a full 60K Salary for monitoring a room with a bunch of file folders with different versions of the software. When you made a commit you burned a new CD and brought to Tim on the 5th Floor.

How does Person Or Group Column Really Work?

Have you ever wondered what the people picker control for Person Or Group column performs its check against?  Ever wonder what happens if you specify a SharePoint Group?  What about that search window that appears when you click on the address book icon?

More information that you ever wanted to know about the people picker. The red underline prompt that notes possible matches is a hidden feature for regular SharePoint users.

Chris Woodill: SharePoint is not a Database!

SharePoint is not a database!

Part of the problem is that business users designing lists are not familiar with basic database concepts - they just want to store their information.  Part of the problem is false advertising by consultants and/or Microsoft that SharePoint is a miracle platform that can do anything - it does some things well but replacing your SQL server or even Access database isn't one of them.
